SLPS School Council

Ever wonder what’s really happening in your child’s school? Well, Stephen Leacock Parent Council is here to keep you in the loop! Council plays a vital role in connecting parents with the educators who spend countless hours with our children. When you get involved in Parent Council, you’re getting the inside scoop on what’s happening in the classroom, while having the chance to speak up on decisions that will help improve student achievement and school performance.

What does parent council do?

Parent council meets once a month with school staff to discuss what’s happening at the school and how we can work together to make SLPS one of the best schools in the area. Council also runs activities such as our lunch programs, Walk to School Day, the Halloween Dance and so much more. Through yearly fundraising, council has allocated up to $20,000 annually to purchase library resources, technology learning tools, arts and science workshops and even butterfly larvae for primary students.

Check out a meeting! Parent council meets the third Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the school library.
